Jagga Reddy Extends His Support To United AP Cause
The Congress MLA said he would extend his complete support to merge Andhra Pradesh and Telangana if CM K Chandrashekar Rao came forward with the proposal.
Congress MLA T Jagga Reddy, who shot to fame for his stance to keep Andhra Pradesh united during the Telangana statehood agitation, has once again raised the same issue, saying that he would extend his complete support to merge Andhra Pradesh and Telangana if Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao came forward with a proposal to that effect.
He pointed out that he had raised his voice in favour of keeping the state united during the separate statehood movement, and that he had won as an MLA even after being labeled as a traitor of Telangana.
He however hastened to add that the united state cause espoused by him was his personal cause, and that it had nothing to do with his party.
He said that TPCC president Revanth Reddy and he had different opinions on the issue.
He also clarified that the proposal of uniting the two Telugu states was at this time coming only from some leaders of the state and was not a demand of the people, and that he would go by the aspirations of the people of the state.
However, giving the rationale for the demand coming up, he said that the separate statehood fight was based on three important aspirations of the people - water, funds and jobs - and that none of them had gotten fulfilled after the formation of a separate state. That is why one leader after another was now talking in favour of uniting the two Telugu states, he claimed.
