Merge TDP With Congress, Naidu Told

Jagan's loyalists also tell Chandrababu Naidu to move no-confidence motion against KKR government, and condemn his attacks on YSR family.
Hyderabad | 16th March 2011
Stating that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was unwilling to introduce a no-confidence motion against the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government because it has allegedly struck an 'underhanded deal' with the Congress, MLAs loyal to former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday said that it would be better for TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu to merge his party with the Congress, along the lines of the Praja Rajyam Party.

Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, MLAs Babu Rao and Srikant Reddy stated that the TDP government should initiate a no-confidence motion against the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government, instead of raising a din from the rooftops that the Congress has failed on all fronts.

The MLAs stated that they were unsure if the TDP would take up their challenge and move a no-confidence motion as they suspect that the main opposition party had 'fixed the match' with the Congress.

Turning their attention to the ongoing tussle between the TDP and the former Kadapa MP, the MLAs said that the main opposition party was demanding probes into Jaganmohan Reddy's investments in Jagathi Publications and his properties.

Condemning the TDP for leveling baseless corruption allegations against former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and demanding a joint legislative probe into amassing of wealth by his son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the MLAs questioned as to why the people of the state would have elected YSR over Naidu a 2nd time if he was corrupt.

Answering their question themselves, the MLAs stated the people of the state rejected Chandrababu Naidu because he had allegedly backstabbed his father-in-law and party founder N T Rama Rao.

They also charged the TDP President of minting crores of rupees while permitting various companies to mine for gas in the Krishna-Godavari Basin.

The MLAs further alleged that the TDP had paid money to a section of journalists to launch a malicious campaign against Jaganmohan Reddy. They demanded a probe into the irregularities in the schemes and projects sanctioned during TDP's 9-year stint.

As many as 9 MLAs, who are known to be the supporters of Jaganmohan Reddy, were present at the press conference.
