The Central Bureau of Investigation is gearing up to arrest former ministers B Dharmana Prasada Rao and P Sabitha Indira Reddy in relation to the Jaganmohan Reddy's Disprportionate Assets case.
Talking to reporters, CBI Joint Director J Lakshmi Narayana said that the CBI would take the former ministers into custody and question them ( i.e. if the court permits). The CBI had already submitted
a memo before the CBI Special Court on Friday seeking their arrest. The next hearing on the case has been posted to June 21.
The CBI has objected to the interaction of the two former ministers with the media and their public claims to innocence. The CBI said that they (Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao) were legally not allowed to speak about an issue which was subjudice. The CBI is also reproted to be wary of the possibility that the former ministers might influence the witnesses.
When asked about his
transfer, Lakshmi Narayana said that he was yet to receive the transfer orders. He also denied rumours of him facing any pressure during his tenure in Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
