TDP members disrupted proceedings in Assembly by demanding that a discussion be held on Jagan's allegedly illegal lands.
The allegedly illegal allocation of land to in the city to Jaganmohan Reddy gained prominence in the state Assembly, creating a lot of disturbance and hampering the progress there on Wednesday.
The members of the TDP forced Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to adjourn the House as it assembled yesterday, with their demand for an adjournment motion on Jagan's alleged illegal land allotments being against the rules and regulations.
Manohar asked them to cooperate for the conduction of the regular business and the listed question hour, but the TDP members insisted on a discussion on the illegal allotment of lands to former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Kadapa and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress members raised slogans in favour of Telangana.
The House was then adjourned for half an hour, and when it reassembled, the TDP members rushed to the Speaker's podium holding placards and pressing the Chair again for a debate on the subject. As they resumed their demand for a discussion on illegal land allotments to Jaganmohan Reddy, they were told by the Minister For Transport, Botsa Satyanarayana, that the case was subjudice.
Clarifying that there were court cases on the illegal assets of the Kadapa leader, the TDP members sought a House Committee on the land allotments made in Hyderabad and Kadapa.
TDP member Payyavula Keshav pointed out that they had been fighting for a House Committee for 6 years now, but that no action had been taken so far.
Minister For Legislative Affairs Duddilla Sridhar Babu intervened and said that it was not reasonable to demand for a debate in the House based on newspaper reports. Payyavula again rose to clarify his allegation that 250 acres was allotted in the city, and that in exchange, assets worth crores of rupees were accumulated in Bangalore.
Payyavula pointed out that as the 2G spectrum scam case was in the Supreme Court, the Centre had conceded the demand of the Opposition and appointed a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the said scam.
Major Industries Minister Geetha Reddy intervened and said that the said allocation of land was under the government's examination and called for smooth conduct of business in the Assembly. However, the TDP Members continued their protest.
The House was then adjourned again for half an hour.
As soon as the House reassembled, the TDP members demanded that a discussion on the illegal land allotments in the city be held again, and blocked the proceedings.
Chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka stated that lapses occured, if any, would be set right, and opined that the TDP members were purposely creating noise over the alleged land allocations.
The government rejected their demands, and this again resulted in a din in the House. The Deputy Speaker, left with no alternative, adjourned the House for the day.
