Andhra Pradesh Congress affairs in-charge Oommen Chandy today said that YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy took a U-turn with regard to reservations for Kapus.
After being welcomed by Congress activists in a grand manner upon reaching the Gannavaram airport from Bengaluru en route to Kakinada on a tour, Chandy said that Jagan had been saying for the last four years that he would provide reservations to Kapus, but had suddenly changed tack.
Chandy claimed that the Congress would always stand by the Kapus, and would give top priority to them in the coming elections. He went to the extent of saying that the party would give the same priority to the Kapus that it gave to the issue of special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
Chandy also said that the process of bringing back ex-Congress leaders who had left to join other parties, back into the party-fold had been speeded up. He exuded confidence that the party would play a pivotal role in the 2019 elections.
Later, Chandy went to Kakinada along with other party leaders.
