YSR Congress Party senior leader and former Chairperson of the Women's Commission, Vasireddy Padma, today resigned from the primary membership of the YSRCP.
She submitted her resignation letter to the party office.
In her statement, Padma made critical remarks about party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. "Jagan is now talking about rewards and promotions for those who have worked hard in the party. What the party leaders and activists need is not just recognition on paper, but heartfelt appreciation," she said.
Padma also mocked Jagan saying that he had previously dismissed the importance of party activists who had sacrificed their lives but was now touting his "good book". She claimed that Jagan was once again attempting to deceive people in the name of this good book.
"Jagan lacks the maturity to lead the party, to govern and to serve the society. People will not respect a leader who uses undemocratic methods and exhibits dictatorial tendencies," Padma said.
She added that the results of the last election reflected the people's dissatisfaction with the party, and so, after careful consideration, she decided to leave the YSRCP.
Padma had been distancing herself from party activities for some time. She resigned from her position as Chairperson of the Women's Commission ahead of the Assembly elections. She had hoped for the party ticket for the Jaggayyapeta seat in the elections, but it was not allotted to her.
