YSR Congress Party supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday enlisted the support of American Telugus at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre, Dallas, USA, in his efforts to galvanize progress in the State.
Amidst applause, the AP Chief Minister, emulating American civil rights activist Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, said that he had several goals for the State - to usher in social justice in his State, to ensure that no child or youth stayed away from studies for want of opportunities or money, to ensure that no person suffered from illness due to lack of facilities or financial support, and to ensure that no able person sat idle for want of jobs.
He also said that he wanted the marginalized sections of society to be empowered economically, socially and politically.
To fulfil all these dreams, Jagan said, he had come up with the Navaratnas, a set of nine election promises which when implemented would fulfill the most important needs of all sections of the State - Rythu Bharosa, Amma Vodi, Aarogyasri, YSR Asara / YSR Cheyutha, pensions, free housing, fee reimbursement, prohibition and Jala Yagnam.
He also declared that he would provide a transparent and corruption-free government.
He thanked the Indian diaspora for the affection and love that they showed him in the faraway land, and acknowledged their role the thundering victory of his party in the 2019 elections.
