Senior Congress leader and MLA JC Diwakar Reddy on Monday denied making any comments against former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons, Diwakar Reddy said, "I had only asked for a probe into the allegations of irregularities in the functioning of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, and also into the allegations that the APIIC had allocated industrial lands to Emmar Properties in a dubious deal."
Diwakar Reddy added, "The primary reason I had asked for a probe was because of allegations that the deal was worth around Rs. 10,000 crore."
The MLA also said that he had sought a probe also into the list of allottees of lands by the APIIC, "as corruption was rampant in the land deals". He said that any allegation of misappropriation of a sum of such magnitude should be probed.
He emphatically stated, "Except seeking a probe into issue, I have not made any remarks against former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy."
The Congress leader added, "I have great respect towards YSR and his family members."
He also criticised Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao's reported statement that ministers from Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema would not be allowed to visit Telangana in protest against their reported remarks that those who demand a separate state are 'anti-national'.
Diwakar Reddy said that this stance of the TRS chief is unwarranted and uncalled for. "Such remarks are against the Constitution, and violate the democratic principles of the state," he stated.
