Acharya Surrenders, Shifted To Jail

Suspended IAS officer B P Acharya is sent back to jail after the High Court cancels his bail.

Following the directions of the High Court, suspended IAS officer and the prime accused in Emaar Properties case B P Acharya, on Thursday, surrendered before the court.

The court remanded Acharya to judicial custody till Friday. Following the directions of the court, the police have shifted Acharya to Chanchalguda Jail.

Meanwhile, the court also rejected Acharya's petition seeking Special Category for him in the prison.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court cancelled Acharya's bail granted by the CBI Special Court on 16 March, following a petition filed by the CBI.

The court had observed it was not proper to grant him bail when the investigation was still on. (INN)
