Minister For Information Technology And Sports Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Sunday expressed his anger at officials over the inadequate facilities in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, where India was playing its second cricket test match against New Zealand.
The minister's criticism against the inadequate facilities came during his trip to the stadium to witness the ongoing tussle between the 2 cricket teams.
However, after seeing the inadequate arrangements and poor infrastructure facilities, the minister expressed his anger at the officials.
Venkata Reddy directed the officials to provide better infrastructure facilities and equipment to cricket players. He also directed them to make good seating arrangements for cricket fans.
Expressing anger over the sale of food items at exorbitant rates in the stadium, Reddy asked officials to ensure that drinking water bottles and sachets, cold drinks, biscuits and other food items were sold at reasonable prices for fans.
Venkata Reddy also revealed that the state government would make efforts to appoint people from Telangana region in Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
The minister also stated that the funds collected through sporting event in the HCA would be used for developing stadiums in Telangana region. Venkata Reddy revealed that sports stadium in Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Nizamabad would be upgraded.
