All arrangements are in place for the 3rd International T20 cricket match scheduled to be held on the night of October 12 between India and Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal.
The stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 39,000. In order to avoid any untoward incidents on match day, a series of unprecedented measures have been taken up at the stadium. Elaborate bandobust arrangements have been made in coordination with different wings - the security wing (250 persons), the traffic wing (400), the law & order wing (1,662), the TSSP (14 platoons), the armed forces (six platoons), Octopus (two teams), mounted police, Vajra and the fire department - and a total of about 2,600 police personnel have been deployed.
A total of 300 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the stadium, including at vehicle check points and parking places. A joint command & control room has also been established at the south side at the G-6 Box to monitor all the CCTV footage. Anti-sabotage checks with the help of BD teams will continue round-the-clock until the match is completed.
A robust communication system is being maintained with the allocation of VHF sets to every officer of a Sub-Inspector or higher rank. Scanners installed at the stadium will allow police and other security personnel to detect any explosives or other prohibited material inside the venue. The services of a bomb disposal team and sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to ensure safety in the stadium and the parking places. Check posts have been set up at all the entry points of stadium to carry out anti-sabotage checks and frisking of persons.
A Road Clearance Party has been set up specifically for route clearance for congestion-free entry and exit for the players and for VIPs and VVIPs into the stadium. Separate teams are being deployed to check the movements of anti-social elements. Four mobile technicians have been deployed at each gate for checking the spectators' mobile phones.
Metro rail authorities have extended the timings of the service to 1 am for the convenience of the spectators.
