Expressing serious displeasure at the opposition parties that he claimed were causing hurdles in his efforts, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said in the Assembly that he would continue to fight hard for the categorisation of Scheduled Castes nevertheless.
Reply to the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his speech on Monday, the Chief Minister offered to take on the Centre to achieve the pending goal of SC categorisation.
Being a member of a Cabinet Sub-Committee on the issue earlier, he had argued in favour of the SCs as injustice was being meted out to them, he claimed. And after he became CM, the state government had quickly done its bit by passing a resolution in this regard, but despite the approval by the Assembly, the cabinet and the opposition parties for it, the proposal for categorisation was set aside by the Centre, he said. The Centre was not responding though he had personally given a copy of the resolution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he claimed.
This adamant attitude of the Centre was compelling the state government to go in for massive protests in the national capital, he said. He vowed that he would achieve SC categorisation by fighting tooth and nail with the Centre, and asked all SC leaders and students to cooperate with him. He also said that BJP leader Kishan Reddy should go to Delhi and stage a protest if he was really committed to SC categorisation.
MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga was arrested for joining hands with the Congress for a conspiracy against the Telugu Mahasabhas, KCR said. Such arrests would continue if leaders failed to mend their ways, he warned.
