HYDRA officials took up the demolition of illegal structures in the Gaganpahad area today.
It was found that construction of illegal structures had been taken up in the Appacheruvu FTL. The encroachers reportedly occupied the pond lands and built sheds in the area. The officials found that the protective wall built around the pond was removed by the encroachers and 18 sheds had been constructed illegally in the FTL of the tank. The lower part of the pond is reportedly getting flooded due to the sheds. It is alleged that four years ago the pond was dug to prevent water from entering the sheds.
As a result, the officials ordered the workers to vacate their residences and demolished the structures amid heavy police presence.
The sheds of Mailardevpalli Corporator Srinivas Reddy, of the BJP, were also demolished by the State government authorities.
