The demolition of HYDRAA has started again in the city today.
HYDRAA officials demolished illegal constructions at three places in the Kukutpally and Ameenpur areas in Hyderabad and Sangareddy respectively.
HYDRAA staff demolished encroachments in the Kukatpally Nalla Cheruvu tank. The total area of the tank is 27 acres. Of these, seven acres of the FTL and buffer zone have reportedly been encroached upon. More than 50 pucca buildings and apartments have been constructed on four acres of land in the buffer zone, and 25 buildings and 16 sheds have been constructed on three acres of land in the FTL. Hydra demolished 16 sheds, excluding residential buildings. A heavy police force was deployed in the area in the wake of the demolition drive.
Some poor people alleged that their houses were demolished without even them being given notices, and that they were not even allowed to get their valuables out from their houses. One of the victims claimed that he had built a food catering stall for Rs 50 lakh that was taken down. In Kukatpally's Shanti Nagar, victims of the demolition were heard crying. More than 20 commercial shutters were also destroyed in the area.
HYDRA also demolished illegal constructions located in government S No 12 of Patelguda village under the Ameenpur municipality limits in Sangareddy district. Notices were served on the encroachers in the last three days. The officials also demolished 14 villas in the area. The families who were residing in the houses were evacuated by the officials of the revenue, municipal and police departments before the demolitions were carried out. Some locals were in tears as they vacated their houses.
