Two inter-state offenders were arrested this morning for committing theft of Santoor soaps worth Rs 38.5 lakh along with a lorry worth Rs 15 lakh, from Maheshwaram, and the lorry was recovered.
According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, on July 2, Mandeep Kumar, Transport Manager of Super Safe Logistics, Andhra Kesari Nagar Colony, Vanasthalipuram, lodged a complaint at the Maheshwaram police station that two persons named Manoj Parmar and Pareesh Parmar had brought in a load of Santoor soaps from Amalner, Maharashtra, from Wipro (the manufacturer of Santoor soaps), and had unloaded them at the Wipro storage hub at Maheshwaram.
Mandeep then asked them to transport the soaps (1,300 boxes) from Maheshwaram to Thumkur, Karnataka. On June 27, driver Abhijeet Mohith, and Manoj and Pareesh Parmar loaded the soaps into a lorry and left the Wipro hub.
Later Mandeep found that the load did not reach Thumkur. He tried to contact the trio over the phone, but their phones were switched off. He then complained to the police, who registered a case under sections 407 and 420 of the IPC, and arrested two persons subsequently.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rajesh Ved alias Manoj Parmar, residing near Usha Mullapudi Hospital, Gajularamaram; and Sushil Bera alias Abhijeet residing at Shanthi Nagar Colony, Sangareddy. Another two persons named Venkat and Pareesh are absconding.
The police seized 1,112 boxes of Santoor soaps, lorry no MH19 Z4299, a Honda Activa, cash of Rs 1,55,000, four smartphones and three keypad mobile phones.
Giving more details, the police said that the principal accused Rajesh Ved alias Manoj Parmar, a native of West Bengal who previously resided on the outskirts of Hyderabad, came into contact with Sushil Behra alias Abhijeet, also a native of West Bengal and residing at Sangareddy. Ved, who incurred losses and was in financial trouble, decided to commit thefts of goods, and explained his plan to Behra, who agreed to his proposal to make easy money.
Accordingly, they first searched for accomplices, and found Pareesh Parmer and Venkat to act as cook and driver. Later, all four went to Dhule of Madhya Pradesh and established a transport office titled Shree Sai Transport in April. They also took a lorry on lease from one Ruknuddin of Sendra at Rs 70,000 per month.
On June 27, they loaded Santoor soaps at the Wipro hub at Maheshwaram to unload the same at Thumkur in Karnataka. On the way, they stopped the vehicle near a village named Rudram where Ved and Behra unloaded the stocks in two shutter shops. Later, they came to Maccha Bollaram. However, they were arrested in the early hours of July 14 and the stolen lorry along with the other items mentioned were recovered from their procession.
