The total value of the recovered motorcycles is Rs 46 lakh.
On the evening of December 30, Chaitanyapuri police station officers arrested two automobile thieves involved in the theft of 30 motorcycles across Rachakonda, Cyberabad, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Nizamabad and Sanga Reddy.
The two were identified as Mohammed Shaik, an AC technician residing in Golkonda, Hyderabad; and Mohd Imran, an auto driver living near Ibadul Rahaman Masjid, Golkonda.
A third suspect, Imran, residing near Banjara Darwaja, Golkonda, remains at large.
Shaik and Imran were caught at the Mohan Nagar crossroads by the crime staff's Vehicle Checking Party while moving suspiciously. They were en route to Nagole from Kothapet on a stolen motorcycle, intending to dispose of the stolen vehicles and commit another theft.
Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to the crimes. The police recovered 30 motorcycles, including 12 Royal Enfields, 10 Honda Activas, 3 Splendors, 2 Honda Unicorns, a Honda Shine, a Bajaj Platina and a Burgman scooter, with a total value of Rs 46 lakh, from them.
The arrests were made under the supervision of G Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, by a team comprising Ch Praveen Kumar, IPS, DCP, L B Nagar Zone; and the ADCP, ACP and SHO of the Chaitanyapuri police station.
