The Telangana High Court today issued notices to Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, GHMC Commissioner D S Lokesh Kumar and Hyderabad District Collector Amoy Kumar in the sensational
stray dog attack case in the capital.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan that heard the case expressed its anger over the GHMC. It said that the four-year-old boy was mauled to death by the stray dogs due to the sheer negligence of the GHMC officials, and asked the officials what they were doing to control the menace of the stray dogs.
It also asked the GHMC officials to take steps for the prevention of such incidents in future, and to submit a detailed counter in the issue at the next hearing of the case. It said that it would think over the amount of compensation to be paid to the family members of the victim before passing its verdict, and adjourned the matter to March 16.
For the uninitiated, the HC had taken suo moto cognisance of the tragic death of the four-year-old boy, mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Amberpet on Sunday.
