The Hyderabad police took in custody two persons who were trying to bury a baby alive near the Jubilee Bus Station in the city this morning.
The two were spotted digging a pit by an auto-rickshaw driver at around 9:30 am at the open ground near the bus station, with a bag in tow. The driver informed the police about this.
According to the police, the two persons, hailing from Karimnagar district, were carrying a baby in the bag, and upon questioning, informed the constable S Venkata Ramakrishna that the baby had died.
They claimed that they were burying the dead infant as they were not allowed to take it on board public transport, and that one of them was the grandfather of the infant.
The constable checked the bag, and found a baby girl in it aged around three days, alive.
The persons were then taken into custody and the baby was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital.
The two persons are being questioned by the police.
