The Balanagar police today arrested a man in connection with a POCSO case.
According to officials, a complaint was received from the victim's father, a resident of Balanagar, who had an 11-year-old daughter. During the summer holidays in April 2023, the girl came into contact with the accused, Robinson D Cornell alias Lucky, aged 23, a resident of Vinayak Nagar, Balanagar.
While she was playing outside, Robinson began complimenting her and talking about going out together. He used a neighbour to pass messages and facilitate phone calls between them, gradually convincing her to elope and enjoy the holidays.
On May 22, 2023, at around 8 pm, the accused visited the victim and instructed her to leave home at 1 am, bringing cash, clothes and her mother's phone. Following his instructions, the girl packed her school bag, took Rs 30,000 from her mother's locker, and left at the scheduled time. At 2 am, Robinson messaged her, lured her out, and took her to the Secunderabad railway station, where they boarded a train to Visakhapatnam.
There he confined her at an acquaintance's house for two days and raped her twice, causing physical injuries and bleeding. On May 29, 2023, they returned to Secunderabad by train, and he fled the area. The girl eventually borrowed a stranger's phone and called her father, who rescued her immediately and reported the incident to the police.
After meticulous analysis of call data records (CDR) of the accused and his family members, the police tracked him down after nearly two years.
