MP-MLA Court Quashes 380 Cases Against Public Representatives

The city-based MP-MLA court quashed 380 out of 395 criminal cases filed against the public representatives of the State, citing lack of evidence.

The city-based MP-MLA court quashed 380 out of 395 criminal cases filed against the public representatives of the State.

The court said that the police had failed to show proper evidence in the quashed cases.

In the remaining 14 criminal cases, the court imposed convictions in four cases and fines in 10.

Those who got convictions applied for stay orders from the High Court.

City-based NGO Forum for Good Governance said that the performance of the State police reflected in the quashing of the cases.

It also pointed out that the police did not prefer to appeal in the High Court against the quashing of the cases.

It lamented that the common people of the State and the rich had different laws.
