Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today gave the green signal for the Hyderabad Metro Rail to be extended to Medchal and Shamirpet.
He asked for the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the proposed Paradise-Medchal (23 km) and JBS-Shamirpet (22 km) Metro corridors.
The Chief Minister spoke with Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) Dana Kishore and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) MD N V S Reddy about the preparation of DPRs for these two corridors. He directed the HAML MD to prepare the DPRs within three months and send them to the Union government for approval as Metro Rail Phase-2 Part-B.
Reddy instructed the HAML MD that, like Phase-2 Part A, Phase-2 Part B needed to be formulated as a joint venture project between the Central and State governments.
Revanth Reddy, recalling his past experience regarding the traffic problems of these areas and the route maps of these corridors when he was the MP of Malkajgiri, instructed the MD to also consult the current Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender for his suggestions and advice before finalising the alignment of the two Metro corridors.
The Metro MD said that the preparation of the DPRs and other related documents was being initiated accordingly.
The Paradise-Medchal corridor will cover Tadband, Bowenpally, Suchitra Circle, Kompally, Gundlapochampally, Kandlakoya and the ORR exit, and the JBS-Shamirpet will cover Vikrampuri, Kharkhana, Tirumalagiri, Lothukunta, Alwal, Bollaram, Hakimpet, Tumkunta and the ORR exit, as explained by the Metro MD to the CM.
