The Shadnagar police arrested a Ramulu for allegedly murdering the mother of an infant that he adopted.
On the intervening night of May 1 and 2 at about 12:30 am, the Shadnagar police while patrolling the outskirts of Chatanpally village towards Buchiguda road noticed a person carrying a gunny bag on his head in a suspicious manner.
The PCs patrolling in the area stopped him and checked the bag, and found the body of a female, aged about 30 years.
When interrogated, the suspect revealed that his name was Ramulu, and that he was 45 years old and residing at Patel Road, Shadnagar. He had married a Sharadha about 15 years ago, and they had a daughter aged about 13 years.
Ramulu said that for the last six years he was on good terms with one Purushotham, who was also working as a labourer along with him.
As Ramulu sought a male child, he took Purushotham's one-month-old male child for adoption by paying him Rs 1.5 lakh. After two months, Devaki (the deceased woman), the wife of Purushotham, came to Ramulu's house and demanded that he return her child.
Ramulu's family convinced her and sent her back. However, once again on May 1, at 8:30 pm, Devika came to Ramulu's house and picked a quarrel with his family seeking the return of her son.
Ramulu, his wife Sharadha and Sharadha's sister tried to convince her, but she did not heed their words and shouted at them demanding her child back
Fed up with her attitude and angry, Ramulu decided to kill her. After a heated conversation for one hour in the presence of his family members in the house, he strangulated her to death with a chunni, and stuffed the body in a gunny bag and decided to dump it on the outskirts of Shadnagar.
A case was registered in the Shadnagar Police Station, and all the accused were apprehended and remanded to judicial custody.
