Land Acquisition For Old City Metro In Full Swing

Upon the orders of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the land acquisition efforts for the Metro Rail in the Old City have been intensified on the nearly 7.5 km long MGBS-Chandrayangutta route.

According to officials, the process of acquisition of the identified 1,100 affected properties is in full swing. Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) MD N V S Reddy said that the requisitions for 900 properties under the Land Acquisition Act had already been submitted to the district Collector, and that preliminary notifications for 800 properties had been issued by the Collector in phases.

He also said that the Collector had completed issuing the preliminary declarations to 400 notified properties. The awards for compensation for 200 affected properties would be announced by the end of December, compensation would be paid immediately thereafter, and the demolition work would then begin, facilitating the construction of the Metro Rail line, he said.

Reddy also said that the road widening work was being carried out after holding discussions with the owners of various structures and affected properties on this route.

He clarified that all religious and historical structures were being protected with engineering solutions during the road expansion and metro construction.

"With the arrival of the Metro Rail, the Old City is going to become a very attractive area. Not only will employment opportunities improve, the entire area will achieve great development in a pollution-free manner," he said.

Reddy and Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty are jointly reviewing the land acquisition process continuously, and the progress of the work is being explained to the CM from time to time.
