Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that the Labour Ministry has agreed to give land for the sake of construction of a sports complex in 1,250 square yards at Sanathnagar welfare ground.
The foundation for the complex was laid, and works worth Rs. 5 crores would be taken up after taking the Labour Ministry's consent, he said. The minister went round the ground along with officials concerned and interacted with locals.
Talking to the media later, Yadav said that he would talk to Home Nayani Narsimha Reddy on the land required by the GHMC to construct the complex.
Keeping the locals' demand in view, the State government was planning to construct it at the ground as it provided more space, he said.
Towards the end of the interaction, the minister flayed Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy for hurling "needless" criticism on the decision to construct the sports complex. During the previous Congress regime, Reddy could not construct a dedicated sports complex and gave it to the PF office, and was now obstructing development works, he alleged.
