The Karkhana police today apprehended a drug peddler, Md Ahmed Pasha, 26, who was also involved in house-breaking offences under the limits of the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionrates.
The police said that the accused committed thefts of gold and silver ornaments, mobiles, watches and cash by breaking the door locks of houses and temples at nights.
A total of 1.2 kg of ganja and stolen property worth Rs 3,00,000 was seized from his possession.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Hyderabad, said that the accused was a habitual house burglar, who was previously involved in 19 cases in the Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad commissionerates.
The PD Act had also been initiated against him in March 2018 by the Bowenpally police, and he was released on July 2 of last year from the Chanchalguda jail.
The accused resumed his criminal activity soon after, the DCP said.
On a tip-off on March 3 that Pasha was in possession of narcotic substances - ganja and hash oil - the Karkhana police rushed to the spot and apprehended him and seized ganja, hash oil, cash of Rs 5,000, six knives, gold ornaments weighing 12 gram, four watches, 10 mobile phones, one Sony 32" TV, artificial gold ornaments, one Pulsar NS125 bike, a hammer and a screw driver from him.
The accused was residing in Subash Nagar Colony, IDA, Jeedimetla, and is a native of Old Bowenpally, Harijan Basthi, Hastmathpet, Secunderabad.
The arrest was made under the supervision of G Venkateshwarlu, Addl DCP, North Zone; P Ramesh, Asst Commissioner of Police, Mahankali Division; B Ravinder, Inspector of Police; Ch Nethaji, Detective Inspector; K Murali, PSI; and more members of a team of the Karkhana Police Station.
