The Telangana State chapter of the Indian Medical Association today demanded that the government and police take stringent action against the persons who attacked the doctors and paramedical staff of Essel Clinic and Hospital at Lal Darwaza, as also the hospital itself, on Thursday (October 13).
The president of the chapter Dr M Sampath Rao and secretary Dr B Narender Reddy alleged that the police were trying to dilute the case by claiming that it was in civil in nature, and also alleged that the police had termed the attack as an incident that was not related to the hospital or the doctors.
The doctors asserted that the entire attack was related to the hospital and its premises, and that the incident took place within the premises of the hospital.
They said that the assailants had attacked eight staff members of the hospital, and had caused a grievous nasal bone fracture and subdural hematoma for Dr Prashanth Kumar Singh.
They warned the State government and the police that they would launch an agitation if the authorities concerned failed to take strict action against the accused.
On October 13, the neighbours of the hospital allegedly attacked the doctors and staff of the hospital over a parking dispute where people of the neighbouring building were parking their vehicles in a way that allegedly obstructed entry to the hospital. Cases were booked against both the hospital staff, who the neighbours alleged had originally attacked them, and the neighbours.
