BJP corporators from the city today held a dharna in front of the HMWS&SB office and demanded that the state government sanction Rs. 500 crore to the water board.
They said that the funds needed to be sanctioned as per the promise made by municipal administration and urban development minister K T Rama Rao.
The corporators claimed that plenty of money was needed to solve the drinking water infrastructure problems of Hyderabad, and cited as an example that the residents of the L B Nagar Assembly constituency were facing a lot of problems due to inadequate drinking water supply.
The police rushed the spot and tried to pacify the corporators. However, they entered into an argument with the police and demanded to be allowed to meet the MD of the water board.
Following this, eight corporators were allowed to meet the MD.
The corporators then submitted their representation to the MD.
The police deployed a huge force to avoid any kind of untoward incident in the area.
