The Election Commission of India said today that the by-election for the Huzurabad Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district of Telangana is likely to be conducted after Dasara.
On September 1 the EC had held a key meeting with the Chief Secretaries of the states going in for elections/by-elections, on their preparedness and the coronavirus cases in their states.
Both the Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana governments sought that the by-elections in their respective states be held either towards the end of October or in the first week of November, and taking their opinions, the EC has decided that the by-elections for Huzurabad and for Badwel in Kadapa district would be conducted after Dasara.
The Huzurabad seat is vacant after Etala Rajender resigned as MLA and joined the BJP. Since then all the political parties have been gearing up for the by-election and are campaigning, and the constituency is red hot with continuous campaigning, and the announcement and implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme.
