Telangana Rashtra Samithi floor leader Etela Rajender on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy from her post for slapping the Preventive Detention Act on Cheruku Sudhakar, the politburo member of the TRS.
Talking to media persons at the TRS Legislature Party office, Etela Rajender slammed the state government for arresting Telangana leaders for participating in the statehood agitation.
He opined that cases have been booked against them indiscriminately, merely in order to dilute the agitation.
He also objected to Sabitha Indra Reddy's silence over the issue despite the fact that she belongs to the Telangana region.
While demanding Sabita Reddy's resignation, Etela also condemned Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy for not responding to the TRS' plea of taking back the Preventive Detention Act against Cheruku Sudhakar.
He said that Telangana leaders would soon meet the Governor, E S L Narasimhan, to request him to direct the government to withdraw the cases against Sudhakar.
The TDP leader also demanded action against Warangal DSP Venkata Narsaiah, who allegedly beat up Yakub Reddy, a member of the Joint Action Committee of Kakatiya University.
Meanwhile, Etela warned Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao of serious consequences for describing TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao as a 'Traitor Of Telangana'. (INN)
