The differences between former MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy once again came to the fore in the Maheshwaram Assembly constituency of Ranga Reddy district.
In the wake of Badangpet Municipal Corporation Mayor Parijatha Narsimha Reddy and two other corporators joining the Congress, Teegala on Tuesday accused Sabitha Indra Reddy of spoiling the party in the Badangpet area, which comes under the Maheshwaram Assembly segment represented by the minister.
He alleged that the minister had given a free hand to encroachers, and that land grabbers were having a field day with her support.
Not just open lands, the land sharks were not sparing even water tanks and schools, he claimed.
"I will not remain a mute spectator to the atrocities of minister's supporters. I will definitely raise my voice against them and will not hesitate to go on an indefinite fast," Reddy said.
"Sabitha isn't even an original member of our party. She was elected on a Congress ticket and later joined the TRS. I will bring her atrocities to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, demanding stringent action against her," the former GHMC Mayor said.
Interestingly, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Theegala Krishna Reddy have a long history of political rivalry. They both vie for the leadership of the Maheshwaram Assembly constituency. In 2014, Teegala Krishna Reddy won defeating Sabitha Indra Reddy. In 2018, it was the turn of Sabitha Indra Reddy to take sweet revenge.
However, both defected soon after winning the elections. Teegala won on a TDP ticket and joined the TRS afterwards. In 2018 Sabitha Indra Reddy won on a Congress ticket and joined the TRS.
The only difference is that while Teegala remained an MLA, Sabitha Indra Reddy went on to become a minister. Another interesting factor is that both are now in the same party.
