High Court Verdict Tomorrow On Kodandaram Rally
The court asked the JAC what problem would arise if the rally was organised on Sunday at a different place instead of on Wednesday at Indira Park.
Hyderabad | 20th February 2017
The Hyderabad High Court postponed the verdict on the petition filed by Telangana JAC chairman M Kodandaram seeking permission to organize his Nirudyoga Rally on February 22 in Hyderabad, to Tuesday.
During the hearing, the petitioner argued that they had approached the court as the police had failed to respond to their plea for permission. Reacting to that, the court asked the police why they had failed to respond to the JAC's plea though they had been asking for permission for the rally for the last 20 days. The court directed the police to communicate their decision before 4 pm on Tuesday.
The police had earlier approached the JAC leaders and suggested to them that they select an alternative venue for the rally instead of Indira Park, and referring to that, during the hearing, Kodandaram's counsel argued that problems would arise in gathering the people in case they changed the venue, since they had already made arrangements at Indira Park for the meeting. He urged the court to give permission to organise the rally at Indira Park on the proposed day.
The police counsel argued that traffic problems would arise in case they gave permission to the JAC to organise the rally at Indira Park as the venue was at the centre of the city. The employees of various offices and students would face problems if the rally happened Indira Park, the police counsel argued.
He also informed the court that a law and order problem could arise in case the rally was organized at Indira Park.
Reacting to it, the court asked the JAC counsel what problem would arise if the rally was organised on Sunday at a different place instead of on Wednesday at Indira Park. Responding to it, the JAC counsel said that he would revert after thinking about it.
The court then postponed the hearing to Tuesday.
