The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday gave permission to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to hold a rally at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad on February 17th, albeit with certain conditions.
According to reports, the organizers had approached the court after the police was reluctant to grant permission for the National Democratic Alliance rally, considering the proximity of the venue to the state Assembly and the fact that the budget session is due to begin on the same date.
The other reason for the police department's reluctance in granting permission for the rally was that a few prominent national-level leaders are participating.
Following the developments, the BJP approached the High Court. The court gave permission to hold the rally with certain conditions including ensuring that there is no obstruction to the proceedings in the state Assembly because of the rally.
The NDA is holding the rally to highlight the rampant corruption under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.
