The Hyderabad High Court today directed the Osmania University registrar and the city police not to give permission for any political meetings on the campus.
The Hyderabad High Court today directed the Osmania University registrar and the city police not to give permission for any political meetings on the campus.
Responding to a petition filed by a law student Rahul, who requested the Court to direct the city police not to give permission to any political meetings in the university premises, the Court issued directions to the registrar and the police to avoid giving such permissions.
The student had argued that the academic atmosphere would be polluted by political meetings in the University. He had mentioned the OU Registrar, the State Home Department Principal Secretary, the City Police Commissioner and the person in charge of the local police as the respondents in his petition.
The university registrar Prof E Suresh Kumar said that the university had not given any permission to the proposed "Jana Jathara" public meeting on June 2. He also made it clear on Wednesday that the university would not allow outsiders without prior permission, and that action would taken against persons who violated the university's directions.
There was no permission even to the electronic media's OB Vans to enter the university campus, he said.
