Deputy Chief Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari today informed the Legislative Council that the State government was taking steps to regularize the services of contract lecturers in Telangana, and shut down fake universities in the State.
"The process of regularization is stalling because Osmania University students had approached the court on the issue recently," the Minister said, adding that despite the roadblock the TRS-led government would strive hard to obtain permissions from the High Court. He said that the monthly salary of contract lecturers had been increased to Rs. 27,000 from Rs. 18,000 while the salary of degree college lecturers had been increased to Rs. 31,000 from Rs. 20,000.
The Education Minister said that the State government was apprised on the eight fake educational institutions functioning in the State, and the government had already initiated action against them.
