Heera group of companies CEO Nowhera Shaik was granted bail by a Nampally court today.
Accused of swindling depositors in her companies of huge amounts of money after promising them lucrative returns, Shaik was arrested last week, and the court heard the bail petition filed by the counsel of Nowhera Shaik and the police custody petition filed by the Central Crime Station today.
The court accorded bail to Shaik, and asked for two sureties of Rs. 5 lakhs each, and for a deposit of Rs. 5 crores to be made in the court by October 29. It also asked Shaik not to leave Hyderabad without its permission, and took Shaik's passport.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed for some time outside the Nampally Chief Metropolitan Magistrate courts when some of the depositors (now known as victims) of the Heera group stopped the car of a lawyer who reached there to represent Shaik.
The decision of the court on the bail was postponed to 3 pm, and when Shaik's lawyer was leaving, the depositors stopped his car and hurled footwear at the vehicle.
Following this, "bouncers" of the lawyer, who were present on the court premises, pushed away the agitating women. As a result, some of the women reportedly sustained injuries. The women, after taking first aid at the Osmania General Hospital, went to the Nampally police station and lodged a complaint with the police.
Following the incident, the police beefed up security at the Nampally courts.
