In a new twist in the
Bowenpally kidnapping case, in which former Andhra Pradesh minister Bhuma Akhila Priya was made
the prime accused some days back, the police officials investigating the case named her brother, Bhuma Jagat Vikhyat Reddy, as a possible suspect too.
This prompted Vikhyat Reddy to file a petition for anticipatory bail.
The police too filed a counter opposing the bail plea.
Agreeing with the contention of police to the plea, a local Secunderabad court today rejected the plea, saying that granting Reddy bail would give him the chance to influence the witnesses in the case.
The court then adjourned the hearing of the bail petitions filed by the 15 other accused in the case who were arrested in connection with the case on February 1.
Bhuma Akhila Priya, the A1 in the January 5 kidnapping of businessman Praveen Rao and his two brothers, reportedly the result of an ugly property dispute between her and the Rao brothers, also had to apply for bail
three times before she was granted conditional bail.
Meanwhile, her husband Bhargav Ram, the A3 in the case, is still absconding.
