Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the by-election for the Munugodu Assembly constituency scheduled to be held tomorrow.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat said that 2,000 police personnel apart from Central paramilitary forces were being deployed for the by-election, with extra attention being paid to 35 sensitive places identified in the constituency.
Bhagwat also said that 100 check posts would be active till the completion of the by-election, that every polling booth was under the surveillance of CC cameras, and that each polling booth had nine staff members.
He added that action had been initiated against all those who had resorted to violence in the last Assembly elections, with bind-over cases also registered.
The Commissioner said that about Rs. 4 crore in cash had been seized so far at various places since the election code had come into force.
A total of 2,41,855 voters will exercise their franchise in the election to be held from 7 AM to 6 PM. The polling material has been handed over to the staff of the Don Bosco School located in the Chandur mandal in the constituency.
