A BJP leaders' delegation consisting of MoS for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, national general secretary Tarun Chugh and former MLC N Ramchander Rao today met the Election Commissioner of India at Nirvachan Bhavan, New Delhi, and submitted a memorandum to him on the "misuse of official machinery" and related issues in the run-up to the upcoming Munugodu by-election.
They complained to the CEC about "violations of ECI guidelines" in the transfers and postings of officers with regards to the Munugodu constituency. They claimed that Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police for Rachakonda, had been working in the same post since 2016, and that his continuation in the same constituency limits was a violation of the Election Commission of India's guidelines.
The BJP leaders pointed out to the CEC that as per the ECI guidelines if an officer completes three years during the last four years or will be completing three years on or before the last day of the sixth month in an Assembly constituency going in for an election, the officer should be shifted out of the constituency limits with immediate effect.
They requested the CEC to take immediate action in this regard.
