The High Court today stayed the promotions of teachers in Ranga Reddy district till September 19.
It passed an interim order to this effect on the promotion of school assistants and SGTs in the district.
Petitions had been filed by the SGTs and school assistants objecting on the seniority list in the district, arguing that the district had been allotted teachers from other districts through GO 317, and that more teachers were allotted than the existing district cadre. The petitioners also alleged that the promotions' list was prepared without giving enough time for objections to the preliminary seniority list.
Arguing the case on behalf of the State government, the government's counsel said that the final seniority list would be prepared only after examining the objections. He requested the judge to give him time till the 19th of this month to submit the full details.
The High Court issued notices to the education department Secretary, the DSE and the Rangareddy DEO on the issue, and ordered that promotions not be given on the basis of the preliminary seniority list.
