Harish Rao Slams State Government Over Midday Meal Scheme
The former minister and Siddipet MLA lamented the incident in which a midday meal was served with chilli powder and oil to school students in Nizamabad district.
Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao today reacted to the incident in which a midday meal was served with chilli powder and oil to school students in Kotagiri mandal of Nizamabad district.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Rao said that he was shocked at the incident, and lamented that under the Congress rule school students were not getting even mid-day meals in the government schools properly.
"The stomachs of the students are to be filled with nutritious food. But they are now being forced to eat rice with chilli powder and oil. It is sad that the government is treating the future citizens of India in such a apathetic manner," he said.
He claimed that the situation arose since on the one hand the prices of vegetables were rising and on the other the midday meal workers were struggling as they were not receiving payments for their bills.
"The BRS government's CM's breakfast scheme, which provided nutritious food to students, has been scrapped by the State government. Now it has also failed miserably in providing nutritious midday meals. This is a testimony to the negligent attitude of the Congress government," he said.
He reiterated that the students were not getting proper food due to the bills of the food items and salaries of the workers related to the mid-day meal scheme not being paid, and asked Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to immediately respond and pay all the pending amounts.
