Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao today inaugurated the remaining 192 units 2BHK units in KCR Nagar Colony in Narsapur of Siddipet district.
The colony has been set up to provide free housing to the poor in the state.
Rao conveyed his good wishes to the beneficiaries as he handed over the keys of the newly-constructed houses to them.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government had constructed 900 2BHK units for the benefit of the poor people of Siddipet so far, and asked the beneficiaries to honour the government's efforts to ensure their welfare, warning them that the government would seize the houses of people who attempted to rent out or sell the units.
"The government has constructed these 2BHKs units by spending a huge amount on the project. It spent Rs 8 to 9 lakh on each house, and ensured that each unit is equipped with modern facilities. In order to honour the government's commitment to you, please refrain from renting or selling the homes," he said to the beneficiaries.
Following repeated criticism regarding the delay in the completion of its high profile housing scheme, the Telangana government has expedited the completion of the 2BHK houses for the poor. Just last month too it
inaugurated several housing units in Siddipet.
