Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao today inaugurated 168 free 2BHK units in Narsapur's KCR Nagar in Siddipet district, and conveyed his good wishes to the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the steps being taken by the TRS government to support the economically disadvantaged people of the state, and urged the beneficiaries of the housing scheme to honour such efforts by maintaining their new homes well and by keeping them clean.
Rao also warned them against selling or renting the houses given to them, and said that such attempts would result in seizure of the units.
"The state government has helped many families in Telangana fulfil their dreams of owning houses. We have built the 2BHK houses at a cost of Rs 9 lakh each, and have equipped them with all the infrastructure required for a comfortable life. The people should honour the government's commitment to their welfare, and must abstain from selling the 2BHK units given to them. They should instead maintain their homes and their surroundings," he said.
There have been reports of many beneficiaries of the free 2BHK houses attempting to either let out or altogether sell the houses, defeating the purpose of the government's ambitious housing-for-all scheme.
