» Happy To See Ponnala Out Of Irrigation Ministry: Congress MLC
Rajalingam Slams Ponnala
Congress MLC Rajalingam said that he was happy to see former Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah out of irrigation as he had not done any work.
Charging that former Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah had turned the 'Jalayagnam' irrigation projects into 'Dhanyagnam' (money worship), senior Congress leader and MLC Rajalingam on Saturday expressed satisfaction at Lakshmaiah being shifted to Ministry of Information Technology.
Talking to media persons at the CLP Office, Rajalingam said that he 'felt good' about Lakshmaiah's portfolio being changed.
When asked to comment about the possibility that Lakshmaiah was also in the race for the PCC chief post, Rajalingam said that the Congress party was not in such dire straits.
He said that the party had suffered a major jolt by the death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and has weakened. If Lakshmaiah was made the PCC chief, the party's base would be eroded further, the MLC stated.
Rajalingam said that at the time of Lakshmaiah's handling of the Major Irrigation portfolio, there was no proper accounts for the money spent on the project. He added that no single project under the massive irrigation scheme had been completed.
Rajalingam, who hails from Warangal like the present I T Minister, said that the people of the district who had voted for Lakshmaiah were repenting their decision, since he had done nothing for them.
