A day after the International Day Of Disabled Persons was celebrated in the state, the body of a physically challenged woman was found at a railway bridge in Nadikudi village, Dachepalli mandal, Guntur district, in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to Inspector Kamalakar Rao, the age of the unidentified woman was believed to be around 25 years. Kamalakar Rao said that the woman used to beg for a living in the trains.
She was found early on Saturday morning with deep injuries on the back of her head. The police suspects that she died on the spot due to the injuries.
They also suspect that some unidentified persons might have stabbed her after she resisted attempt to rape. They, however, do not rule out the possibility that she might have fallen off from a train which she used to board to beg.
They hope an autopsy may clear any doubts about the cause of her death. A case has been registered.
