It is a part of tradition to give the guru the highest place in the society. It is customary to worship the Guru as Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. A guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and lights up the lights of knowledge. The guru is the greatest person who teaches and leads to development. It is customary to celebrate the full moon day in the month of Ashadha as the Guru Purnima. People believe that it was the day on which Vyasa, who wrote the Vedas, was born.
Devotees also thronged the Balasamudram Sai Baba temple in Hanumakonda and the Sai Baba temple in Khammam, where priests performed special pujas. The Amistapur Sai Baba temple in Mahbubnagar, and many other popular Saibaba temples in Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Sangareddy and Nalgonda also saw vibrant Guru Purnima celebrations.
