On the occasion of Maha Sivaratri, a significant influx of devotees was witnessed at Shiva temples across the State today.
The festival is being celebrated with great fervour and devotion, with worshippers gathering at various temples since early in the morning, and the air resonating with chants of Lord Shiva's name. Many devotees performed special pujas and abhishekams after offering prayers to the deity.
At the popular Bhimeshwara temple in Vemulawada located in Rajanna Sircilla district, a large number of devotees thronged the temple from the early hours, leading to an estimated waiting time of nearly two hours for a darsanam of Lord Shiva. The devotees also took part in special rituals organised on the occasion.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Government Whip Adi Srinivas offered silk garments to the deity on behalf of the State government.
Similar scenes were witnessed at prominent Shiva temples across the rest of the State, where thousands of devotees participated in the celebrations with religious zeal.
