Azharuddin Claims Breakthrough On Qabristan Allotment

The Telangana Minorities Welfare Minister said that the Congress government would not rest until every genuine minority issue in Telangana was resolved.
Hyderabad | 29th December 2025
In a major step towards strengthening minority welfare and also protecting public assets, the State government today stated during a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat that it was committed to social justice and responsible governance.

The meeting was chaired by Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, whose reported sustained efforts and proactive leadership led to a decisive breakthrough on the long-pending Qabristan land allotment issue in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.

Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav and TMREIS Vice-Chairman Faheem Quraishi also participated in the meeting. Senior officials and representatives of Qabristan Committees from the Erragadda, Borabanda and Shaikpet divisions were also present.

During the discussions, Azharuddin spoke about the long-standing hardships faced by the minority communities. He said that residents of these divisions had suffered for decades due to the absence of adequate burial grounds. Acting on his initiative, the issue was taken up at the highest level, resulting in clear administrative directions and firm assurances, he claimed.

To resolve the Qabristan issue at the earliest, the minister instructed officials to ensure close coordination among the revenue department, the defence department and the Waqf Board. Wherever required, revenue land would be transferred to the defence department, alternative land would be obtained in exchange, and suitable revenue land would be handed over to the Waqf Board for burial purposes, he said.

Srinivas Reddy said that government lands were public assets and that there would be zero tolerance for negligence or encroachment. He directed officials to adopt stringent and foolproof measures to protect government lands, especially those earmarked for public welfare and minority needs.

Following the clear directions issued at the meeting, Collectors and senior officials were asked to complete all formalities without delay. The meeting reportedly concluded on a positive note and was described as a major success. Residents of the Jubilee Hills constituency and representatives of the Qabristan Committees expressed their gratitude to Azharuddin for his efforts and advocacy on behalf of minority communities.

Azharuddin thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his support and visionary leadership, and said that the Congress government had always stood as a true well-wisher of minorities and remained firmly committed to their progress.

He also said that the Congress government would not rest until every genuine minority issue in Telangana was resolved, and added that under the Congress government minority welfare was not merely a promise but a priority backed by decisive action.
