Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Sunday, clarified that the state government had never promised employment to those who undergo training in the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu program.
Talking to media persons after participating in the Indiramma Baata program in the East Godavari district, he said that the government would provide training to the unemployed youth to enhance their skills, under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu program.
He said that the training would help the unemployed increase their chances of gaining employment.
Stating that even candidates who have passed the 10th standard consider working in the agricultural profession as a waste, he said that those who qualified for both VAO/VRO posts are highly educated.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he would hold discussions with the Centre over including the weavers' profession in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to increase employment opportunities for them.
Responding to a question on AP's power crisis, he said that the state requires 1,400 MW to meet both agriculture and industrial needs. He said that the government has been making arrangements to purchase an additional 700 MW of power from other states.
Earlier, the chief minister visited the weavers' colony at Bhandarulanka and Batnapalli in Amalapuram. (INN)
