Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan today opened up on the issue of the nomination of TRS leader P Kaushik Reddy for an MLC position under the Governor quota.
She said that she had put the file related to the nomination of Reddy on hold.
Speaking to the media at Raj Bhavan, she expressed her displeasure over the nomination of Reddy for the post.
She opined that it would be more prudent for the state government to nominate people who had excelled in a specific field, to the MLC posts under the Governor's quota.
She said that she would think once again about the proposal sent by the government to nominate Kaushik Reddy, and declare her decision on the issue soon.
For the unversed, the state cabinet had recommended Reddy for the MLC post under the Governor's quota soon after he joined the ruling party, and urged the Governor to approve his name.
The Governor had previously promptly approved the name of folk singer Gorati Venkanna for an MLC post upon recommendation by the state cabinet. Many political analysts are however opining that Kaushik may not get the post under the Governor's quota as he had not excelled in any field.
