The CM held a meeting with Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy; Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad; ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodara Raja Narasimha, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, Seethakka and Konda Surekha; and other leaders, including AICC Telangana in-charge Deepadas Munshi, former MP V Hanumantha Rao, former minister Jana Reddy, MPs, MLAs and MLCs at the Secretariat on Thursday, and disclosed the State government's decision on the new anthem.
Apart from the ruling party leaders, TJS president M Kodandaram Reddy, poet Ande Sri, music director M M Keeravani, CPI MLA Kunamaneni Sambasiva Rao and CPM State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram were also present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the CM said that the song, which had become popular during the Telangana movement, had been accepted as the State anthem with the approval of all, so that it would be sung by future generations.
The song was penned by poet and writer Ande Sri 20 years ago, and had been accepted as it is, the CM said. Oscar winner Keeravani had composed the music for the song, he added.
The CM said that the song had been composed in two versions - one with a length of 2:30 minutes, and a full version with a length of 13:30 minutes - and both versions would be considered the State anthem. The short version was made so that it could be sung in government functions, he said.
On the occasion, the song sung by a group of young singers led by Keeravani entertained everyone.
